The benefits of drinking energy drinks can only be related to the energy drink ingredients themselves. There are many. The combination of these ingredients also determines whether it is beneficial or harmful to the consumer. One note, we are talking about energy drinks, not sports drinks, which are meant to keep the athlete’s body hydrated, such as Gatorade. Any drinks loaded with caffeine or sugar, are diuretics which do not hydrate the body.

Energy Drink Superfruits

There are several energy drink ingredients that are most popular. To start we will discuss the usage of the superfruit, such as the acai berry. A superfruit is considered a fruit that is high in antioxidants, and other plant nutrients which are extracted from the inner fruit and shell of the fruit. There are a couple of superfruit ingredients used in energy drinks today, at least the healthier ones. That is, the Acai Berry, and the Mangosteen. Both tropical fruits, they are hailed as supporters of anti-aging, weight loss and  memory gain.

Again, the mixture of every ingredient will determine whether or not the energy drink is healthy. Now you have the other ingredients such as green tea, guarana, taurine, and caffeine, to name a few. We will feature a page for each of these major energy drink ingredients.

The mangosteen, a citrus flavored fruit, is another key energy drink ingredient that is added to support the body by way of antioxidant power. Antioxidants fight off free radicals in the body and support the overall immune system. Again, these are more so provided by the healthier energy drink providers such as Efusjon Energy Club.

Sugar In Energy Drinks

Sugar is a huge ingredient to look at here. You have added sugar plus other ingredients that have natural sugars in them to begin with. The reason why many energy drinks have sugar is for taste and to aid in the “RUSH” feeling the drinks give a person. It is necessary to watch for this, especially if you are diabetic. Many energy drinks average between 27 grams and 50 grams of sugar.

Caffeine In Energy Drinks

There are many beverages that have caffeine, such as sodas, coffee, and juices. Caffeine, however, is a major energy drink ingredient. Red Bull for example has 80 mg of caffeine, while Monster energy drink twice as much with 160mg. Others hold as much as 360mg/can such as Boo-Koo Energy. Some do rate higher, but here is a shortened list of the majors.

  • Red Bull – 80 mg
  • Rockstar – 160 mg
  • Monster – 160 mg
  • Amp – 75 mg
  • Efusjon Edge – 60 mg
  • Blow – 240 mg

Like we said earlier, rather than make a long page out of this we will add some more pages and talk of the individual ingredients, or the major ones, by themselves. If you like this page then kindly retweet me, thanks!
