This is an interesting video by Dr. Whiting which focuses on the intake of caffeine, which can deplete the body of nutrients by increasing the need to release fluids from the body. And we know that most energy drinks contain above and beyond the necessary levels of caffeine. It seems when we think about consuming these drinks we need to reach past the boost part and see the nutritional part of it or the lack of it in most cases.

He also mentions the side affects of energy drinks. Such things as hyper activity, insomnia, and improper heart rates. In a 6 billion dollar market the rise of drinking energy drinks grows everyday along with the health risks associated with them. As this next video mentions there is a difference between energy drinks and sports drinks like Gatorade which are made for hydration.

You have to consider the overall concern here especially with young adolescents. In a time when they are still growing, and developing, how drinking energy drinks can affect all of this as a whole. It is up to many parents to keep the control as much as they can in order to ensure their children’s safety. Many, as I have read in forums are doing this, good job!
