There is much concern as to whether or not drinking energy drinks will make people crazy. I think this post does not have to be scientific in explanation, but rather one of common sense. Read the back of the can of any energy drink you are about to consume first.

• What are the ingredients?
• Are you allergic to any of them?
• Do you even know what they are?

Everyone should at some point know there own human body. If drinking any energy drink makes you act abnormally, then stop drinking it. Some reactions may be:

• Sleep insomnia
• Anxiety
• Irritable
• Cramps
• Nausea

I don’t suppose we want to ask if a person is crazy already? No, I didn’t think so. Every person is different and handles the ingredients of energy drinks in a different way. This is why some can mix an energy drink like Red Bull with Vodka and sort of be fine, while another will do the same thing and die.

Can Energy Drinks Make People Crazy? Don’t drink 5 or 6 in one day to find out! I don’t even do that with drinking an all natural energy drink like Efusjon. There is a lot of health in Efusjon cans. More than 2 a day I feel the effects of ” OKAY CHIEF, TOO MUCH HEALTH!”

Now, imagine, having more than 2 Red Bull’s or Monster’s in one day that have many stimulants all in one can, multiplied by the number of cans…..OUCH! Asking for trouble there!

There are a lot of factors to take into account here. Remember, advertisers make things attractive to the eye of the consumer. Let’s take Blow energy drink for example. It has created much controversy. Why, was it the name of the product that stirred so much attention? No! The way that it was marketed did. It is packaged just like the illegal street drug called cocaine, in a box, resembling a brick of cocaine, a mirror, a credit card to cut the powder and a vial (or vials based on order size) of white powder.

I am not here debating the issue, just expressing what can make an a product the best selling energy drink, not necessarily the best tasting drink. There are many companies that are getting involved in the energy drink craze of the 21st century. There marketing strategies involve the standard look, touch and feel, just to get it into the hands of consumers. Even Playboy has come out with their own version energy drink.Why do you think people might buy it?

Before we start here, let me say that there are many benefits to drinking energy drinks. Increased metabolism and nutrition is the major benefit, to me, at least. The ingredients used in energy drinks are not all bad but actually very good for you such as Vitamins A, B, C, Quercetin, the antioxidants, etc. The trouble starts when the good is mixed with other things of sometimes unknown daily value. These concerns are most expressed amongst college students who drink energy drinks.

Caffeine, Taurine, and Guarana

Caffeine is also referred to as a psychoactive stimulant drug. A psychoactive drug is a chemical substance that acts primarily upon the central nervous system altering brain functionality, creating changes in one’s apprehension, feelings, awareness and form.

In plants, it acts as a herbicide against bugs that feed on them. In humans, caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant, briefly fighting off sleepiness and giving clarity.

Beverages containing caffeine:

• coffee
• tea
• soft drinks
• energy drinks.

Taurine, is known as an organic acid. It is found in the tissue of animals and humans. Taurine has mainly been studied in animals and accredited with increase skeletal muscle, lowering blood pressure and glucose levels. However, it has not been proven to be a energy booster. However, other studies implicate the treatment of the liver due to large consumption of alcohol. Excess drinking can increase the fat build up in the liver, reducing blood flow to it. Taurine has been used in animal and human studies to show that it reverses the effects of liver damage due to alcohol. They did state that further study is needed. This was just with Taurine though. Energy drinks have much more than that in them, and when mixed can prove fatal.

Guarana is a climbing plant of the maple family called Sapindaceae, a native to the Amazon. It is most familiar in Brazil. Guarana is best known for its coffee berry size fruit. Guarana is an effective energy booster containing twice the caffeine found in coffee beans. It is huge in Brazil, check out the commercial below for Guarana Antarctica.

This stimulant increases alertness and memory absorption. Excessive consumption of energy drinks containing guarana alone, or in combination with caffeine and taurine) may give way to seizures in some people. There are over 100 different drinks in production with Guarana.

The dangers of energy drinks consumed amongst college students also involves the mixture of energy drinks and alcohol, such as the ever popular Red Bull and Vodka drink. The mix of a depressant alcoholic drink and a stimulant energy drink has proven sometimes fatal to the consumer. Many college students also testify to driving home with other students that have had these combination’s before leaving the bar. The added concern is also violent reactions and sexual harassment demonstrated  toward young women when in the crowd where this is going on.

FDA crack down on Blow energy drink began with a letter sent to Logan Gola, the CEO of the energy drink company called Blow, requesting the company to revamp the appearance of their product from resembling illegal drugs and promoting elicit images. They are charged with encouraging the use of the drug cocaine simply by how the product is packaged. A box, resembling a brick of cocaine, a mirror, a credit card to cut the powder and a vial (or vials based on order size) of white powder. However, Gola, and the company feel that they have not targeted the young people crowd or encouraging the use of drugs.

He did name the product after the name of cocaine on the streets, which is called BLOW.

Shocking and Elicit, I Love Blow Energy Drink Continues

Blow energy drink pulls no punches when it comes to just who they are trying to market to as some authorities have affirmed – young people and the club goers. The question being raised is not whether they are trying to provide a good energy drink product, but how they are doing it. A box with elicit images of women who apparently forgot to dress before going out, a vial of white powder, a credit card to cut it like cocaine, and a mirror.  Of course, there is a warning not to snort the powder. Logan Gola’s take is – Tongue and cheek attitude towards the nightlife scene, to play on the party life. Now, one can only keep his or her own judgment about this product, I mean, as far as executing your feelings about it. As a parent hopefully you can keep good control of your kids and keep them away. I will say this though, the more fan fare it gets, the more popular it will be.

Alcohol is a depressant and caffeine a stimulant, not to mention the other stimulants in the energy drinks themselves such as Taurine and Guarana, and Green Tea extracts. It is like stepping on the gas and the break pedals at the same time. One does not cancel out the other. The scientific results from these two ingredients being mixed together all spell disaster for the consumer. Deaths have been linked to it.

A good way to find out what people think is the best, is to visit a forum and post a thread about it. I have logged on to forums to read discussions about the likes and dislikes, but always payed close attention to why they chose that certain energy drink.

The Taste Of Energy Drinks

I think based on what I have heard others say was important to them when drinking energy drinks the taste was most important. Some said, it was loaded with everything, but tasted horrible. Others, it had only certain ingredients, but tasted great. So the taste of these drinks is one key reason for they being consumed, and the manufacturers know that, well, at least some of them do.

The taste can range from fruity, such as the acai berry, mangosteen, citrus, to tea-ish like. Others can taste like medicines altogether. And some like you are drinking a bottle of salt, trust me from personal experience. We will cover the looks in a minute. There are enough brands of energy drinks to cover almost every desirable taste out there today. It depends on you. What key reason makes you drink energy drinks?

The Look Of Energy Drinks

The manufacturers know that in this case, looks can be everything, especially when it comes to marketing their product. I mean go on Youtube and search out the main competitors in the energy drink industry such as Red Bull, Monster, and Amp. Their appearance is flashy, bold, luring, and in your face. Some have put everything possible on it to lure the marketplace, such as almost naked women, and drug resemblances.  If they made it so it looked like a bottle of Robitussin, would you buy it? So the look or appearance of energy drinks does account for something, right or wrong.

The Performance Of Energy Drinks

Okay, so they look good and taste good, but are they good? We can debate the health issue here but we do that on another page. The question here is:

• Do energy drinks perform?
• Are they hyped up but lack power?

Performance is one of the main reasons these drinks get sold. Looking good and tasting good is only part of it. It is the advertisements of gained energy, better athletic performance, the stay awake power, you know, the mega effect that makes coffee look like a cup of water. Indeed, energy drinks are NOW the new craze of the 21st century and the beverage industry. When Coca Cola and Pepsi, make their own energy drinks, you know it is huge.
